Detailed question on tasks and their timing

First time user, switched over since yesterday from sickbeard.

On the System Tasks tabe the is an overview of current tasks. I understand most of them.

The first one I like to know about is “Check For Finished Download”. It is set for every minute.
My question is is this looking at the download folder where my newsgroup downloader stores the downloaded files?

Second is “Downloaded Episodes Scan”. Also every minute, what does this do? I checked the wiki and forum but could not find details about this.

I am asking since my downloaded files eventually end up on my NAS (as part of the config of a series, the “Path” where a series is stored). My NAS is configured to spindle down the HDD after some time so during the night it will be down. But does this task check the NAS every minute?

It talks to your download client to see if downloads have finished, either ones queued by Sonarr or by other means. If downloads are finished it will import them.

This is for the legacy import method, Drone Factory. You can disable this task in settings, if the path isn’t set it won’t do anything.

Only if you set your Drone Factory path to a path on the NAS, if not Sonarr will only rescan every 12 hours when it does its Series Refresh/disk scan.

ok, thx, I think I understand. Drone factory path was empty, changed 1 to 0 just in case.
Now I have “Downloaded Episodes Scan disabled” so that worked out OK.

I never talk to my download client :-). I use Newsbin, can you actually interface with that? I expected “communication” to be on the file/directory level only?

Thanks for the swift reply!

In your case it would all be on the file system then, whichever path you specified as the Watch Folder Sonarr would be checking.

ok thx, I think I am in complete control now!
