Converting from Sickbeard/SABnzbd

Hi - I have read many posts, the wiki, the noob guide, etc. As the title says, I am migrating from a Sickbeard/SABnzbd/XBMC setup to Sonarr/SABnzbd/XBMC.

  1. I use XBMC via Apple TV for front end and my TV Shows are stored on a NAS. The NAS is a networked drive, but it is also has a static IP. From the forum, I think I would access it like this? “\LS-QL1A9\share\TV Shows” and this is specified when adding a series?

  2. Currently, SABnzbd uses Temporary Download Folder: “SABnzbd\incomplete”, Completed Download Folder: “SABnzbd\complete” and Watched Folder: “SABnzbd\NZB”. I have category “TV” setup in SAB and Sonarr, so I have set the Drone Factory Folder to “\SABnzbd\complete\TV” - my understanding is that Sonarr will monitor that folder and automatically post-process the file when SAB adds content?

  3. I am trying to understand if I need to rename folders and shows in my existing library so that Sonarr will recognize them as downloaded (hopefully not). My folders and filenames are different mainly in that the Series Title does not have the date “(XXXX)” in the Series Folder Name or in the Episode file name. Do I have to add the dates, or will Sonarr be able to recognize the existing files? If I have to rename folders and files I will have to also rebuild my XBMC library, which is time consuming - not to mention the actual renaming of dozens of folders and hundreds of files!!

Hopefully, that will get me up and running. Thanks in advance for any assistance!!!

  1. Specify the path to the root series folder on the import existing series pop-up/modal, the root folder would be the path you specify (just make sure the user running Sonarr can access it)

  2. Don’t use Drone Factory, clear the path you set and set the interval to 0 (its a legacy import mechanism), Sonarr will get the information to import right from SAB. Make sure the location where SAB puts cometed downloads is NOT the same as where Sonarr sorts files to (keep sorted and unsorted files completely separate).

  3. When you import your series, Sonarr will list each one and you can confirm the path matches the series, since you didn’t add the year to the folder name make sure it picked the correct series as it will default to the non-year one. Best thing to do is add the year and avoid any confusion.

Thanks for the reply!

1 & 3) Ok - after my post, I added NZBDrone.exe to the Startup Folder according to the FAQ. I ran the import using the “//LS-QLA19/share/TV Shows” and it did import my existing library!

  1. I cleared the Drone Factory path and set the interval to zero. As a test, I manually searched for a missing episode on one series and it did download in SABnzbd and after a delay Sonarr processed the download and added it to the Series page. Next, I added a series and it is downloaded the episodes, but is is taking a significant amount of time for Sonarr to do the post-processing on 10 shows. What is the typical processing time?

It runs every minute, the import time would be dependent on whether Sonarr is moving files on the same drive or across drives.
