I recently switched from using the Drone Factory to using the Completed Download Handling functionality. Admittedly, I still don’t understand the difference or the recommended configuration, but regardless, I enabled Download Handling and make sure that my Drone Factory is a different directory. It seems to be working fine, but in Sabnzbd, anytime it downloads a new episode, that does NOT show up in the Sabnzbd Queue or the History. But, it does download correctly within NzbDrone. I just wanted to ensure this was the expected user experience. Is it accurate for those items to not show up in the Sabnzbd Queue? If so, is there any way to change that behavior?
If its not in the SAB queue it wouldn’t be in the drone queue either since drone pulls it from SAB’s queue. Sounds like either SAB is hiding that category (not even sure if thats possible) or its bug with SAB.
drone can remove it from SAB’s history (if you have that setting enabled), you want to turn that off to leave it in SAB’s history.
I just unchecked the box for Remove imported downloads from download client history. I didn’t realize that’s what that setting does.
There is a description on it, is it not informative enough?
Your description is fine. I just didn’t give it enough thought, because I’m not sure why anyone would want to remove it from the download client history. But I’m sure there are folks out there who would prefer that. Thanks for all you do.
Okay cool, just wanted to make sure (its tough to judge if it will be sometimes because I’m in the know).
I don’t know either, but I know its also an option in CP, so some people must like it.
Thanks for the feedback.
Where is the Completed Download Handling option? Its not in Settings >> Download Client.???
btw, I am on master
NVM, updated to develop and found it,
Nice work btw.
Thanks
I am a little confused about this.
Do we enable it and change the drone factory to something else and configure the download client Category to something else?
Then nzbdrone uses sab api to connect and deal with it that way rather than the black hole/watch folder way.
If so maybe just beef up that section in the wiki. If possible?

One or the other, don’t need to do both. The options are covered on the bottom of the wiki page. Not sure how you want it changed, but as long as you have a github account you could help us out an update it.
I’m struggling with the migration.
I have created a new category in SAB called nzbdrone
I have set drone factory interval to disabled (0)
Nzbdrone is finding episodes and sending them to SAB correctly and they are given the correct category.
However when the download finishes, then it just sits at 100% in nzbdrone and never gets moved.
I’m not sure what I am missing? Nothing is in the log files either, and I have set the log level to trace.
Never mind it seems to be working now - no idea what changed!
Sorry, another n00b here not getting it! I’m also having a hard time understanding the change and not sure what I need to change my configuration to.
In sab I have:
Category: tv
FolderPath: D:\Downloads\~Temp\02 - Download Temp ND
Groups / Indexer tags: tv (so all tv is downloaded here, which then waits for NZBDrone to do it’s bit)
NZBDrone:
Drone Factory: D:\Downloads\~Temp\02 - Download Temp ND
So doesn’t NZB Drone already pickup the tv downloaded from the “02 - Download Temp ND”?
Do I remove my Drone Factory Category from sab D:\Downloads\~Temp\02 - Download Temp ND and create a new generic TV category which isn’t the same as the Drone Factory folder?
Thanks and well done on wonderful application, much better than Sickbeard IMO!
@mikeparkie The wiki was written to avoid having to explain several different potential issues you could otherwise run into by telling you one thing: (paraphrasing here) “Make a new category in sab with a different folder and set that category in nzbdrone. Then enable Completed Download Handling.” That’s all that is required.
At the bottom of the wiki are some advanced/alternative options.
(btw. I’m referring to the wiki page the Health Check links you to)
I must have missed something on the wiki the first time around, probably trying to do it all to fast! I’ve re-read it and spotted my mistake. Thanks for the advise
I’m having issues with Nzbdrone/Sab too and the whole download handling thing. After creating the new category/folder, switching the folder in nzb as well it would download but would not update, no download status in nzbdrone, nothing. Seems like it would download but not rename/move. Also, not a one notification would work, whether it was to update Plex Server, Home theater or Pushover…obviously because nzbdrone never got around to processing the downloads, but ya…dunno if anyone else has had this issue…my only guess is that something post processing in Sab is screwing with Nzbdrone post processing now. Never had an issue with Drone…which for now i have switched back to. Any help would be appreciated but as long as Drone factory is still there I’m good.
EDIT:
I don’t see anything in the log that’d help, perhaps it’s the wrong log. Here’s a pastebin link:
http://pastebin.com/5wbH3Xyw
I also keep getting an error with the log file…Uncaught TypeError:Cannot read property ‘show’ of undefined.
@Damienlee69 please enable debug logging, clear your log files and post the logs after a few minutes. Without logs we can’t troubleshoot.
I’m having a different problem with completed download handling. After setting up according to instructions everything works: downloads file, moves file and shows in Drone. The problem is that the folder SAB uses is full of Unpack folders that don’t get deleted automatically (_UNPACK_The.Middle.S02E10.720p.HDTV.x264).
Any ideas on this one?

Had the same problem with nzbget, this fixed it. Thanks.
