So, I switched over from the drone folder setup. In Sab, I configured a new category and download folder and I configured NZBdrone to use that category. When I tell Drone to download an episode that all works fine - it finds the episode and it sends it off to Sab with the right category and Sab completes the download to the new folder I mentioned earlier. This is where things stop working.
Initially, in Drone next to the episode it says that it’s downloading with the Cloud icon but if I refresh the page it goes back to the status of “Missing from Disk” - previously with the drone folder this would instead be a progress bar showing the download status from Sab. Once Sab has finished downloading the episode nothing happens - it just sits in the new completed folder. It’s as if Drone isn’t talking to Sab properly to get the status.
Both Sab and Drone are on the same box (Server 2012 R2). In the trace logs for Drone, I see it is actually talking to Sab but the response it gets back each time from Sab is the entire download history and stats I have in Sab. I can post this if its wanted but it’s quite lengthy.
Since its going from downloading (cloud icon) to missing when the page refresh it sounds like an issue with the category in SAB as drone only checks the category its told about (though it will get results back for all items in the queue and history).
You should enable trace logs and let drone run for a few minutes and pastebin the resulting log file, that should give enough information to investigate further. Just give it a scan to make sure it doesn’t contain any passwords before posting it.
tv-drone - possibly an old category since the items in history are older
tv - connected to SB (based on the PP script)
drone - new TV category for drone?
Which one is configured in drone? I don’t see drone attempting to post process anything, but the log only covers about 7 seconds of logs, we’ll need more to see what its doing when it attempts to process the queue, Debug may be sufficient for that without cluttering the logs.
Drone is the new category. I looked at what the debug logs gave but the detail on Sab activity looked sparse. Since the logs are too large for pastebin, I’ve made a shared folder on OneDrive. In this I’m trying to download Bobs Burgers Season 4 episode 15.

Drone factory is trying to importing something there. Probably rejecting it because it can’t identify it due to the euhd prefix.

This is it trying to work on something it sees in the old Drone factory folder (TV-drone), which is odd since by the description, enabling Completed Download History should stop it automatically checking that folder? As mentioned, when I switched to CDH, I setup the new category in Sab (now called Drone) and configured the Sab downloader entry in NZBDrone to use that category too - which it uses when it downloads now.
The first path is a path from NZBdrone’s settings for its Drone Factory folder. The second is the path that Sab uses to download to the Drone Factory folder. Last time I tried using UNC paths in Sab it didn’t like it too well, so that path is actually just a symbolic link to the same UNC path that NZBdrone uses for the Drone Factory
Finally I’m thinking about this thread when I’m not at work.
CDH and the Drone factory can be used in parallel, just not with the same download category.
So if (indirectly) they’re pointing to the same directory, then it’s configured incorrectly. Coz it will cause both CDH and the Drone Factory to try import the same file.
Normally drone would create a health check warning if it detects the CDH storage path is in the same location as the drone factory and refuse to import, but because of your symlink it doesn’t know.
So make sure the drone factory is either disabled or points to a different directory.
They’re definitely not using the same directory. When CDH fails, I move the downloaded episode from “DroneComplete” (the new CDH folder) into “tv-drone” (the Factory folder) and run a rescan of the Factory folder to manually pull the download into Drone. The Shameless episode you see it keep failing on is an episode in the Factory folder from a few months ago that I haven’t bothered to clean up yet.
I am getting some similar i have some episodes that are grabbed downloaded and sent to the folder i have setup for Completed Download Handling but they just sit there i do have a suspicion that they are not named correctly by the poster because on occasion i have to manually rename some of the episodes however after that they don’t attempt to process again like it did on a time interval with Drone factory so i am finding myself not only having to rename these episodes
But also i then have to manually move them into the drone factory then go into the Wanted page on the WebUI and force a drone factory scan or wait the specified time i have set for it to check that folder
At this point the completed handling does work but we there is an issue like having to rename a file it can be a bit counter-productive when you have to manually move files from the folder into the Drone factory to get it to process, renaming and move to the correct show folder
granted i did have to do renaming on occasion however that is all i had to do was rename it and leave it and soon enough when that 1 min, 5 min, 15 min, etc… time i set came around it would grab it and process as normal
I do like the Completed Handling feature it is a good one to have but i find myself still having to enable and rely on the Drone Factory so i think for a fair test comparison i might disable Completed Download Handling for a week and just go back to Drone Factory and see if my manual interaction is the same or decreases or possible increases who knows but gonna see
@protocol77 You should be able to rename files in-place, even with CDH. As long as there is a job folder. (Directory for that specific download, so not a single file in the category output path, but a subdirectory.)
The way drone scans the job folder is exactly the same as with the Drone Factory.
Btw. With the latest develop branch we’ve finally gotten around to show import errors on History->Queue. So if something is stuck, look there first, you might have a red icon in front of the row, hover for details.
No manual override via the UI atm, but that’s scheduled for a later release.
Sorry it’s taking so long, but the logs simply doesn’t contain any reference to CDH, no error, nothing. Not even that it’s parsing the api output. Which could mean the category is wrong or something else.
Could you please verify those. Post screenshots of the Download Client settings page in nzbdrone and the detailed settings of the Sabnzbd download client in nzbdrone.
Yeah i think your right about in place renaming i just finished renaming a couple files that is what prompted me to logon to the forums to see if others where having a similar issue after posting i went back to move them to the Drone Factory folder like i mentioned i do above and they were gone and they had been marked green on the Calendar so must have processed once i renamed them correctly which to do that all i did was copy and paste the name of the folder they were in because for some reason the folder was named correctly but the .mp4 inside wasn’t
If i remember correctly i think there was a feature in Sabnzbd that allowed it to rename the files for you based on the folder it was in but i cannot seem to remember where that feature is might have to look it up might save me the trouble of manually renaming them that way.
I wonder what the scan time is on Completed Download Handling them i know you can custom set it for Drone Factory but not for CDH
Nzbdrone will process the sabnzbd api data every minute, both CDH & Failed Download Handling. That interval is hardcoded coz if one would set it too high it could cause all kinds of obscure issues.
As for the file, do you have the original filename?
I’ve managed to find the problem. It turns out that the category used by Sab is case sensitive and that’s where the mismatch was. In NZBDrone I had the category as “Drone” and in Sab I had it as “drone”. I’ve since matched the two and now it’s working fine. A tad embarrassing that I missed it all this time but it might be worth adding that as a note in the UI next to the category field.
I’m having the same problem. Drone sends shows to Get, Get downloads them and puts them in the Complete folder. But they don’t get cleaned up (nfo, nzb, sff, sample files not deleted), renamed, or moved into the corresponding series folder. Completed Download Handling is enabled, of course. What am I missing?
