I prefer the “posters” option over the “overview list”, but it keeps changing back. I suspect because of cookies? If so, is it possible to to add the option to set posters as default in UI settings?

It uses local storage and is stored on each computer individually. As long as you don’t clear your browser data it will save it.
We have no plans to change this behavior.
