At the moment there is an option (Settings -> Media Management -> File Management -> Change File Date) to set the date of media files to the broadcast time, which works well.
I would like to propose the following as a logical extension:
Change the dates on files related to a media file. Specifically, I am thinking of the thumbnail file (-thumb.jpg) and subtitles (.srt, etc).
Change the date on the Season folder to be the same as the first episode in that season.
Change the date on the Series folder to be the same as the first episode in that series.
I would imagine that #1 would work with the existing Setting, but #2 and #3 would need a new Setting (“Change Folder Date”).
I don’t think this is something we want to expand on, it is already limited as some file systems have issues with it and Sonarr does some season/series folder date changing when importing to properly cascade when the most recent file was added.
Lots of series don’t have a year in their title, so this would make finding something based off release year easier.
As an alternative, how about having a Series Title field called “Series TitleTheWithYear” that adds the series year (if needed) in brackets? Or “Series TitleTheWithoutYear” that strips it and “Series Year” for the year to allow for custom formatting?
I would like to see the Folder date be the same as the download date. The reason is I keep kodi set to sort by date order. I have 2 folders Active shows and non active shows.
Then when I open the active shows folder in Kodi the top few shows will always be what just downloaded. Currently I have to run to sonar and look what downloaded then run to Kodi and browse to folders that takes forever to scroll thru.
If the folders were in the current download date it would be a dream come true. They would list sort of like your calendar view then.
