Can't download episode

I have turned monitoring on for the latest special of Doctor Who. Doing a manual search for it brings up three releases which fit my download profile. However, they all have that red exclamation point, saying 1.5 GB is larger than maximum allowed: 0 B and no download option.

The maximum allowed size that I have set for a HDTV-720p is 2.93 GB to 5.86 GB.

The title in Sonarr is Doctor Who (2005) - 0x148 - The Husbands Of River Song while the release titles are Doctor Who 2005.2015 Christmas Special.The Husbands Of River Song.720p HDTV x264-FoV. Could this be casuing it, and how do I work around it?

I think I figured it out. It thinks the episode hasn’t aired yet, so it’s not in the wanted section yet.

The issue is its a poorly named special that Sonarr can’t determine which episode it actually belongs to so it reports that message.

I’m asking as someone who isn’t sure of the coding required for this, but how “simple” would it be to add a secondary search string?

In this instance, we could add a secondary search string for “Dr Who Christmas Special 2015”

Obviously this would be entirely dependent on the user adding useful search strings, but it would make the specials section slightly more useable (although many shows are starting to have specials released in the s0xe format (Burn Notices Fall of Sam Axe is a recent one)

Hey markus, I’m having kind of a similar issue with the latest Special of Downton Abbey but that gives me no releases even on manual search. I can see the episode is out on Kickass etc though. Any way to manually enter the name of the episode that Sonarr searches for?

This affected me too and I manually triggered it to DL. I understand the naming sometimes is off, but it should be able to use a “fuzzy logic” to suggest matches. A good example of software that does this well is FileBot.

It should be able to at least suggest a match based on how much those two match up…not everyone releasing puts the Season/Episode in there, but they put the show title and the episode name in and it really should be able to guess.

I just downloaded and started using Sonarr 2 days ago after getting tired of SickRage constantly having various errors. I really like it so far, but I do agree it would be nice to have an “enter search term” for manual searches.

When it comes to specials, I’ve located a fair number of them with more general searches and they almost never use the S00Exx naming since 9/10 times they were not uploaded to be part of a setup like this (I use Plex.)

On specials like this I just download them and use FileBot to match them up to their TVDB episode, then the Drone Factory folder is pointing to the destination I have FileBot set to move files to.
