Can't be opened on OS X

Everytime I try to install Sonarr it says “The application cannot be opened.”

I downloaded the .app from github.

I am running Yosemite 10.3, and am on an administrator account.

Please help.

We don’t host the compiled binaries for Sonarr on GitHub, what exactly did you download?

this website links to https://github.com/Sonarr/Sonarr/wiki/Installation#os-x

from which I downloaded this https://download.sonarr.tv/v2/master/latest/NzbDrone.master.osx.zip file

Thank you for your help

Okay, that’s correct.

Was Sonarr ever running or it fails immediately at the first run?

it fails to open the first time I try after downloading it.

Okay, thats an OS X level error message, not something from Sonarr, I imagine there might be additional logging at the OS level, but I’m not sure where it is. This thread has a similar issue (which occurs after updating), but it might point you in the correct direction.

This is down to default security settings on Yosemite. Run sonarr and when you get the error, open system preferences and click on security and there will be a button to run the app that just failed to open. You will get a warning about not a known developer etc, just click open anyway and it will work every time after this.
