Cannot access using server name in URL, localhost works

Hi,

I have Sonaar set-up and working fine on a windows 10 machine but having issues adjusting the port number.

When set-up with the default port (8989) I can access it from the install machine using url http://localhost:8989 and http://servername:8989.

If I change to port to 8086 I can access it from the install machine using url http://localhost:8086 but http://servername:8086 stops working. Instead I get a 400 (Bad Request) response.

Any ideas?

Do you have a firewall installed ?
Please provide us your log for more informations.

I do have a firewall but switching it off makes no difference.

I assume that the browser request is not getting to Sonaar at all as I have switched logging to debug, deleted the existing log file then tried to access using the broken URL but no new log file is generated. If I then go back to the app a log file is generated. Would you like that posted as not sure it will be useful?

Where does your server name comes from ?
Ifit’s a website like no-ip.org, you should add a rule in your router for this port.

Or it is just a custom route ?

The server name is the name assigned in windows. At the moment I am just trying to access using a browser on the same machine Sonaar is installed on so no network, routers or internet involved.

I have sab and couch installed on the same server and can access them locally and across the network using the server name just fine.

I have also just tried accessing using the servers IP address (http://192.168.0.100:8086/) and loop back address (http://127.0.0.1:8086/) but but both get the same 400 response.

Did you set the Bind Address in Sonarr’s General Settings? If so, what did you set it to?

Nope, I have not changed the the bind address from it’s default of *

Step number 3 should solve it for you:

Run NzbDrone.exe once as administrator to register the port and URL with Windows (Required for remote access)1

Great, thanks that sorted it. I installed using the wizard downloaded from the main site so hadn’t seen these instructions.
