Blacklisting Issues

I am having some issues with the failed download handling and blacklisting. I have read the wiki here:

and it still doesn’t help my issue. When I have a failed download it never downloads a new version. It marks it as failed and removes the entry from SabNZBd and I see the red cloud under History, but it never queues up another release. So I do a manual search on the episode and it lists tons of other releases, but they are all blacklisted since they have the same name as the failed release BUT they are from a different day (possible re-up) and are still auto-blacklisted even though if I queue them up 90% of the time it works. Sometimes the other HD releases don’t work, but there are lots of SD releases available and it rejects them based on quality, and I don’t see anywhere to tell it to Download SD if HD is not available, and once HD is available, upgrade to that quality.

Is there any way to set options to not blacklist release from another day with the same release title (newer or older) and to download a lower quality if there is nothing else available at this time, then if someone does eventually upload a better copy, download that to replace it?

Quality upgrading is part of quality profiles. You can configure those profiles to include any quality you want. Though the order can’t be changed until : https://trello.com/c/dmuIBWwH/224-customize-quality-order is implemented.

As for releases with the same name, I had considered it, but thought I would be unlikely to occur with the exact samw name (case insensitive). Can you PM an example series and episode you’re seeing this one, I’d like to see what I can do to fix that.

This happened with 2 episodes from the Ray Donovan series. Looking at the PNG you can see that the releases for HD all have the same name, but there are 2 different releases since the age is different one is 94 days old and the other is 142 Days old. It downloaded the 142 days old, and then blacklisted the 94 day old release without even trying to download it.

Then I manually queued it up and it failed again, and didn’t go pick up the SD copies that are there. Then I went back and manually queued up the SD release and it completed.

It would be great it if would have at least tried to download the other HD release (even though it failed too), then tried to download the SD release without user intervention. I think the system is all in place for it, and the error handling works perfect, I’m not sure how to differentiate best between releases with the same name on different days, but it happens fairly often in my collection. Since technically once a release is out, another release from another group would likely get nuked, so usually I see the same release being posted again and I have 2 indexers, so sometimes the files works on 1 indexer and not the other and again it gets blacklisted due to the release name. Thanks for your quick reply and I do hope you can look into it if you have some time.

Thanks,

I too am having this exact same problem as the OP.

Unless the quality is in the quality profile it will be rejected, releases have no knowledge of each other when processing (they all get processed as if they are the only release) and then only accepted releases (no reject reason) are further processed. If you want SDTV releases to be considered you will need to include them in the profile as we have no plans to change the behavior at this time.

I’ll take a look at the same name with different release dates: https://trello.com/c/r9eegqN2/522-blacklist-will-block-failed-other-releases-with-the-same-name-that-have-different-release-dates

Indexers index the same content, if it fails on one there is almost no chance it would pass from another, except in the case where propagation is delayed and trying a different release later worked because it was fully propagated by then (this just recently happened, within the last week). Backup accounts help prevent failures because they often don’t remove the exact same files, that is really the only way to combat failed downloads.
