I just added all my shows to the new NZB Drone but I don’t want it searching for previous episodes unless I ask it to.
Where’s the setting for this?
Edit: I see there’s an ignore deleted episodes option, I’ve enabled that after most of my shows were imported. Will the setting still apply? I just don’t want thousands of Daily Show and Colbert Report episodes downloading!
Ignore Deleted Episodes is used to automatically ignore an episode when the corresponding file is deleted, but NzbDrone has to see the file before that option will apply. Its best used if you download episodes and delete them after viewing.
I do want them monitored though, I want new eps to be downloaded. I just don’t want random old episodes downloaded. It’s already started to throw a few Colbert episodes to redownload that I’ve already watched and deleted. It’s going to take ages to manually go through every season and toggle the monitored status across dozens of shows.
It’s a bit of a set back compared to the last version where you could just ignore all previous episodes. I’d like Drone to download new episodes and only download historic ones when I toggle the status as in the last version.
In v1 the way we achieved this wasn’t very user friendly (people would search and then wonder why episodes didn’t download). To achieve this in v2 we want to be able to display a list of seasons when the series is being added and you would choose the season to start on, which makes more sense then trying to figure out the date when a season first aired. TO do this we need trakt to implement this feature: http://support.trakt.tv/forums/188762-general/suggestions/4209339-enhanced-search-results-for-shows
Due to how NzbDrone adds a new series its not possible for it to automatically ignore missing episodes when a series is added.
When I added all my shows I wasn’t prompted for a list of seasons?
If you could have a list of missing seasons in the missing view, rather than episodes that would make things significantly easier to handle.
One other small thing - you can no longer search individual episodes just by clicking an icon. You have to go through pressing the episode name then searching. It slows the process down compared to the previous version.
I just set the option ‘Older Download Priority’ to paused. So if an old episode does gets picked up on the rss feed, SABnbzd will keep it paused until I can manually decide what to do with it.
That’s a decent work around, I just woke up and had all of s3 of Game of Thrones downloaded when I’d seen them all. Eat into my quota significantly
I’m going to revert back to the previous version, hopefully it’ll work for a while longer to see if anything can be done about the new versions back log searching.

Correct, trakt hasn’t exposed that feature, until they do we can’t offer it.

They’re not treated as missing seasons, but missing episodes, so not something we can easily achieve, though it would be possible to have a button to unmonitor missing episodes older than a certain date, I’ll look into the ease of which that can be implemented.

Yeah, there has been plenty of discussion on that, its not something we plan to add, but instead improve the way season/series/missing search works.
@madfondle had a great suggestion, I hadn’t thought of it, but barring manually unmonitoring all the episodes thats the best option right now.
Regarding backlog searching, v2 doesn’t do any backlog searching at all, if any old episodes are redownloaded automatically its because they were reposted to usenet, which I do understand is an issue.
I’ve gone back to the previous version for now, hopefully no major changes with any of the NZB sites or Sab will mean it won’t work anymore.
Until I have a way of stopping already watched shows working v1 fulfills my needs perfectly until v2 is ready
v2 does look amazing and is quick. Btw, I had to readd some of my shows in v1 because for some reason the episodes already downloaded weren’t showing up in Drone. Anyway, in readding a bunch of shows v1 is much quicker than v2 as it just shows you the shows in table format and you click add.
On the subject of backlog, I first have to check that I have understood how NZBDrone works.
From my understanding, the software never actually searches for any episodes unless you specificly instruct it in doing so. This being the difference from Couchpotato, which constantly makes searches based on a schedule.
Instead of searching, it just monitors the RSS feeds from the various indexers?
If this is the case, then I think it’s great, but there is one issue, that I myself has noticed this week. As i’m currently running it on my desktop, it’s not actually running all the time. That means that I might miss episodes in the RSS feeds, as they fill so quickly. The nzb.su RSS for example only contain about half a days worth of TV episodes.
What I would like is a feature that when you start the software it checks how long it’s been since it was last running, how many episodes has been aired since then (and possibly since a day before that) and then do a search for any missed episodes in that period.
Now, as soon as the Linux version works properly, this won’t be an issue for me, running a home server, but I do believe allot of people run it on their desktops.
@RXP There is a link to it from missing, top left there is a button that takes you there. Just make sure you’re on a recent update. Just make sure you’re on the latest version available (2.0.0.166), though NzbDrone should auto-update.
For some reason it wasn’t autoupdating so I just downloaded a fresh copy form the master link.
It’s a nice addition to make things easier. What would be even better if there was a way of mass editing shows where you could select checkboxes or “select all” and then click the current season only option.
Is this still an issue? I just added some TV shows; but, only the latest episode is downloaded. The older shows from that season aren’t automatically downloaded. I currently only have WomblesIndex and a custom Indexer (with API Key) added.
All I want for it to do is download any of the shows I missed from the current season.
drone doesn’t automatically search for any missing episodes, which I think is the behavior you want (the opposite of the OP’s), I responded to your other thread which should answer your questions, if not feel free to respond there to keep it all in one place.
