ok. so I have no idea what I’m doing really. I’m a total noob. I downloaded nzbdrone for windows and then it took me to the web interface. So I spent time in there setting up my settings and such. and ran into a wall of not knowing what to do, and not having any idea how to proceed. I googled to see if i could find any info on how to setup nzbdrone to automatically download shows. anyway after not finding any info really (at least no noob friendly info) I kinda just gave up, and deleted it. so I go to delete the folder I set up for nzbdrone, and it had the tv show I added as a test show. and the quality and everything was amazing. well one of the reasons I deleted nzbdrone was because after it told me to restart it (for something) I couldn’t get back on to fix my settings or change anything. Well today when I saw that the tv show files were there I was happy it worked and wanted to try it again. I re-downloaded the program and still can’t get back to the page to deal with any settings or anything. everytime I click on the nzbdrone program it opens up the browser and get A username and password are being requested by http://localhost:8989. The site says: “NzbDrone” I have no idea how to fix it or start over, and I tried the username and password I set to begin with. I am at a total loss, and would really love to get deeper into the program an learn how set it up properly on my windows 8.1 laptop and later add it to my nas, but that’s still a little ways away. Any help would be appreciated, and remember I’m not very techinal on this at all so please be patient, and if you gotta explain it as if I’m 7 please do.
You will need to disable to the username and password you set, the easiest way is to:
- Shutdown drone (stop the service, exit the app via the tray icon, or close the console window)
- In Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) open
C:\\ProgramData\zbDrone
(copy paste the path into the address bar, since ProgramData is hidden by default). - Delete config.xml
- Start drone again (same way it was running before)
- Open the WebUI
thank you so much. I actually have been up all night. and thanks to luck (just random luck) I found out that if you go into task manager and right clicked and went to file location then I went to ended up backing up two folders and happened to see a file that was a config file, and for some reason decided to click on it and open it, and boom there it was it showed me my username and password, and also my api key (which I’m still not quite sure what that does, but I’m sure I’ll learn) but thank you so much for your quick answer if I didn’t happen to accidentally come across what I did. then I’m sure it would have been huge help. Thank you again for your quick response. Do you happen to know of any instructions that are simple for someone just getting into this. I got it to download one season of a show, but honestly that was yesterday and I have no real idea of how I did it, plus from what I can tell it took the file and moved it to one folder, and it seems like it’s in reverse. Meaning the folder I wanted it to download and then get moved to another folder is reversed. thank you again and any help is appreciated.
Sorry, I’m not aware of a simple getting started guide. As for the sorting, this might help you out: https://github.com/NzbDrone/NzbDrone/wiki/Sorting-and-Renaming
Lots of information on the wiki though: https://github.com/NzbDrone/NzbDrone/
