Asian series type for Asian Episodes?

Sonarr version (exact version): 2.0.0.4427
Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows):
OS: Win Server 2012
Debug logs: http://pastebin.com/GHceCdwF
(Make sure debug logging is enabled in settings and post the full log to hastebin/pastebin/dropbox/google drive or something similar, do not post them directly here)
Description of issue:

Avistaz only works by ‘showname E##’ format
e.g Blow Breeze E34, so obviously sonarr can’t find it when i try to search it
because it always adds S## after show title
“Blow Breeze S01E34”
I tried all 3 series type and none worked

Jackett works fine

Is there any workaround for this?

Sonarr can handle the parsing of this (treats it as a mini series), as long as the episodes are part of season 1 it should work fine. If they’re not it may be a problem to determine how to process the releases.

Are these series maintained well enough on the TVDB that supporting this format would actually work?

It is listed on thetvdb and has complete episodes.
Yeah thats the strange thing, i cant manual search it but it’s still being picked up.

But it doesnt work for all series though, this one for example.

http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=317610
This one ended on Dec 19 and i have it monitored yet sonarr doesnt grab it

I think i agree having custom type series will help alot
Apparently not all asian series have single season

Any idea how to grab this?
http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=284209

Only Infinity Challenge E512 on the +jackett + avistaz works
But the problem on thetvdb it’s listed as the third season,

ANd also running man
http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=248870
E331 is already available on avistaz but it’s not being grabbed

So there’s no way to make sonarr grab those serials?
I read somebody on other thread managed to grab running man but he doesn’t explain how…
PM’d him but no reply :frowning:

Sonarr would only grab it if it came up on an RSS feed, since Sonarr doesn’t search for missing episodes and searching would fail anyways.

With that episode format it’s going to be hard to deal with depending on how the episodes are numbered from season to season.

We’ll need to investigate if this can be handled reasonably so I’ve filed an issue for it:

It is unlikely we’ll pick this up immediately though.

Thanks Markus, at least there’s a progress…

AFAIK, the only reliable tracker for asian tvshows for me is avistaz.to, and the format that always works in avistaz search is
tvshow_title E##
e.g :
Running Man E435
Infinity Challenge E421
The Legend of the Blue Sea E13

It works that way in jackett too.
So they seem to disregard season numbering.
If so perhaps the solution is to have an option to not include season number?

Why is this not treated as mini series despite having a single season?

http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=318845

Cant grab this, sonarr missed 2 episodes

Edit : Probably because in avistaz it’s listed in its alternative name?

Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim

I already submitted to the scene naming docs…

Looks like my previous submission is rejected?

Entourage > Entourage (KR) > Conflicts with Entourage

https://thetvdb.com/?id=313818&tab=series

How do i grab this one then?

That would do it.

Manually would be the only way, or if they released it under a different name.

Hmmm found another one, name is already same but sonarr wont grab it

http://thetvdb.com/index.php?id=271713&lid=7&tab=seasonall&order=absolute

is it because thetvdb page doesnt have absolute numbering yet?

Or the extra number after the episode number. The logs will show you more.

Hmm where would i look for mini series logs like this ?

This one also not grabbed… same name, absolute numbering available

http://thetvdb.com/index.php?id=276221&lid=7&tab=seasonall&order=absolute

But for this one i think it’s because absolute numbering is different with seasonal numbering,.
Any workaround for this kind of issue? I heard thexem or something for anime

The numbers after episode number is airdate… i dont think thats the cause because several other shows are also using that and grabbed correctly,
e.g : running man, hwarang, night light

In the same logs as everything else, ((trace logs)) giving the most detail and will show exactly how Sonarr is processing it.

Absolute numbering only matters if the series is set to anime.

The only way to know why Sonarr didn’t grab it would be to see how Sonarr processed it in the logs and why it was rejected.

Searched for weekly idol in all 5 log files, but this is all i found

Is debug logging enabled?
If so Sonarr never saw it, or it’s under a different name (weekly.idol?)

Infinite Challenge is strange too… here’s the log :

I thought it’s because name problem, infinite Challenge =/= infinity Challenge, but turns out it’s already listed in the scene naming docs

17-1-9 18:44:01.3|Warn|ParsingService|Found daily-style episode for non-daily series: [284209][Infinite Challenge].

Your log level isn’t actually set to trace though (did you save them?) because the filename isn’t listed.

Sorry should be correct now
http://pastebin.com/yQumcrVk

Roughly 4 hours ago this is released in avistaz and it’s not grabbed

Weekly Idol E285 160111 720p NEXT
If it’s the airdate numbers… then how come running man with the same format is grabbed?
this was grabbed :
Running Man E333 170108 720p NEXT

This looks to be a different issue than before.

17-1-11 22:10:47.8|Debug|Parser|Parsing string 'Weekly Idol E285 160111 720p NEXT'
17-1-11 22:10:47.9|Debug|Parser|Episode Parsed. Weekly Idol - 285
17-1-11 22:10:48.1|Debug|QualityParser|Trying to parse quality for Weekly Idol E285 160111 720p NEXT

It looks like it’s parsing it as an absolute episode number, which E285 of Weekly Idol does not have. Running man worked because there is an episode with absolute episode number 333.

Hmm yes then as i suspected that series doesnt have absolute # yet in thetvdb…

http://thetvdb.com/index.php?id=271713&lid=7&tab=seasonall&order=absolute

This is a similar issue to anime episode naming
e.g : one piece, gintama
Thetvdb is hesistant to put absolute number because probably they havent found reliable source
I will try to request this in their forum
But i think it’s also better to have custom search format cause release names can vary…
such as this one

S6 = season 6…

With custom format search user can specify format and probably even series name,
Less burden for developer

btw Infinite Challenge does have absolute # though, i will post the log here next time an episode is released

Searching is only part of it, Sonarr would still need to be able to parse it to figure out with series and episode it belongs to and the support for it would probably not be simple either, since people could enter anything they wanted.

How are they hesitant? Anyone can add it, as long as it makes sense it should stay.

That’s an awful name, but not unlike anime that has different titles per season, so having that series title linked to season 6 would be fine.
