Does Sonarr have a way to mark episodes are archived or is the only way to mark them as unmonitored?
As of now it seems to be only unmonitored… but maybe in the future they will come up with that who knows.
Something like this?
Trying to migrate to Sonarr from Sickbeard as I type this, and immediately noticed this was missing and it’s causing pain. I sincerely hope to see something like this in Sonarr.
How would an archive function be different that just marking the episode as unmonitored.
Because it marks the episode as missing.
So here’s the workflow I currently have in Sickbeard, and I suspect I’m not alone since this is an issue that others have asked about (and you’ll probably find come up more and more as people start looking for alternatives to Sickbeard).
I have a /media directory, and underneath that #'d directories - 00, 01, 02 - each representative of another drive.
When a drive fills up, I simply replicate the directory structure to a new drive, archive the episodes for the shows I’m interested in continuing to grab on the new drive, update the location for the new drive, and move on. So the downloader (Sickbeard in this instance), still registers that I have the episode and doesn’t try to download it, and also keeps the stats straight, yet I can still have it search for new episodes and deposit them in another location for space considerations. Works great. Sonarr makes this impossible (meaning I can’t rely on it at all for tracking my episodes for anything but current and future unless I manually track specific episodes I need). Others have already noted that in the case of using removable drives, this is also an issue.
Archiving is great. Although if Sonarr were taking it one step further, if I could just add all the locations where episodes might reside to a show configuration, and mark one of them the active download location, I wouldn’t care whether or not I could archive, yet. There will likely be a day where I’ll start putting drives on the side loaded with shows (which is why others want that functionality) but still would like the downloader/indexer to know they have been effectively downloaded.
“Marking it unmonitored” isn’t really a choice in this situation. You either display the shows on one drive, or the other. There is no in-between from what I’ve seen.
