How about adding a sort option to the add series screen to sort the search results by date or possibly even in alphabetical? It doesn’t happen all the time but there are some common show names that match a bunch of other stuff and then some shows that are reboots of old ones. This would also help if you don’t know the entire show name and your searching for a more generic term to try and find it.
I usually find just starting to type even part of the name of a show brings up results i have been fortunate to find all the shows i need either by using the full name or by this method
I normally do as well. To give you another example of one way this feature may be useful. I just searched for a show not in thetvdb site yet so it was showing me a bunch of other potential matches. If I could have sorted by date I would have known right away instead of sifting through the results not finding what I’m looking for (because it isn’t even there yet).
Added to Trello, but its not a priority for us: https://trello.com/c/uijrQTTw/793-ability-to-sort-search-results-for-add-series
You can add directly by tvdb id though.
Did this ever get implemented? I see the card is archived on Trello and there is mention of no UI changes made. I have a new series “Empire” that doesn’t even show up in the results unless I search the full “Empire (2015)”. The ability to sort by date in the UI would really come in handy so I don’t have to look up the tvdb id manually.
Revised the sorting logic. Although we didn’t add UI options to change it
We improved the sorting, when using trakt, but due to lack of data in TVDB’s search results we currently only get the first 10 results, if memory serves this one is 17th in the results. Sorting options wouldn’t matter in this case, but we will be improving the results further in the future.
Thanks for the update. Glad to hear it!
