0 Byte Files

Hi All,

I am giving NZBDrone a shot, coming from SB, and I’m having a few problems:

  1. I’ve been able to add my existing shows, but in order to save space, after I watch a show, I create a 0 byte mkv file, and delete the original mkv file. This way, SB still thought that I had the show downloaded, but it wasn’t taking up any space on my HDD. It seems that since NZBDrone is actually scanning the files, and it can’t read the 0 byte file, it is saying that the episode is missing from the disk. Obviously, NZBD isn’t wrong, but is there any way to force the program to think that the 0 byte files are actually the downloaded files?

  2. It seems that no posters are showing up, after I’ve added in all my shows into the program. I’m not sure if I have to let the program go through and scan each show before the artwork will show up, but wanted to check.

  3. In regards to post processing. Is there a guide on how to get that set up within SAB?

Thanks

NzbDrone treats files that are less than 70MB and 3 minutes in length as samples and does not import them, which is why its skipping them. I think we can address this by ignoring the sample check for episodes in the series folder. I’ll take a look at that and update later.

NzbDrone will get the episode information from trakt and then scan the disk and download the posters, which is usually quite quick, but it might slow down a bit after adding a large number of shows.

I’ve created this wiki article as a short guide on setting up post processing, which covers SABnzbd as well: https://github.com/NzbDrone/NzbDrone/wiki/Sorting-and-Renaming

After discussing it with @kayone we will not be altering the sample checking inside series folders. Within NzbDrone you can enable Auto ignore deleted files on Settings -> Media Management, which will prevent NzbDrone from re-downloading deleted files automatically.

As for ignoring the episodes that do not have files, you can use Season Pass (linked from Missing) to set the monitored state for multiple series quickly, or for more granular control you can change the monitored status per series on the series details page.
